Tips to Protect Yourself While Tanning

There are safe tanning tips that can be followed to help protect your skin. There is nothing positive about sitting out in the sun. The sun damages our skin and can create the risk of skin cancer. Other than self lotion tanners there is no other way to naturally get some color to our skin other than tanning. Stay away from tanning beds, they are much more harmful to your skin than the sun.

Outdoor tanning is the best. It is the most natural and you can enjoy the weather and not be in a little box to get a tan. The UV rays from the sun are not as harmful as those in a UV tanner at a tanning salon. Make sure you wear sun screen so you do not get a sun burn.

Using a sun block with a lower SPF can still help you achieve a tan. It can protect your skin a small amount. Something is better than nothing. There is never such a thing as a healthy tan, like I said before, but anything to help protect your skin from damage is important.

If you are in the ocean or the pool, make sure you are cautious and take in the fact that sun can reflect off the water and you can burn. There is no way of preventing that other than wearing SPF. If you are in the water make sure you wear a hat or glasses to protect your face.

If you get sun burned use a lotion that will help with relief from the burn. I always recommend coconut oil based products for any skin irritant and condition. The natural oils in coconuts are very beneficial for every type of skin care use. Just make sure when you are outside tanning to protect yourself when you are not going to be laying out. It is nice to be able to tan freely but don’t damage it for aesthetic purposes!
